I received the following information from the LG/MS Police Department. Congratulations, Don!

On Friday, May 18, Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Volunteer in Policing (VIP) Don Stillwell broke the 4000 mile mark of foot patrols along the Los Gatos Creek trail. Don joined the VIP program in 2004 and has been a familiar sight to morning trail users since that time.

It was just in February 2010 that Don broke the 3000 mile walking patrol mark.

Don left police headquarters on foot at about 9:00 AM for his morning patrol accompanied by his grandson, Ryan Stillwell, and LG/MS PD Chief Scott Seaman, and arrived back at the Civic Center at about 9:45 AM.

Don was greeted by a small crowd of Town employees and was presented with a plaque by Chief Seaman.

    May 17, 2012

Dear Los Gatos Union School District Parents, Teachers, Staff and Community Members:

RE: Principal Announcement for Daves Avenue School for the 2012-13 School Year

On behalf of the Los Gatos Union School District Board of Trustees, teachers, staff and administrators, I would like to welcome and introduce William ('Kit') Bragg as the new principal at Daves Avenue Elementary School beginning with the 2012-13 school year. Our interview approach was a purposeful and rigorous process based on mutual respect and trust that included teachers, parents, administrators and Board representatives. I want to thank all those involved who not only gave of their time but also honored the District's goal of collaborating as a professional learning community.

Kit comes to us from the Cupertino Union School District ('CUSD') where he currently holds the position of Assistant Principal at Kennedy Middle School. Having served children as an educator for the past 12 years in CUSD, he has had the opportunity to prepare

I received the following email yesterday:

    May 16, 2012

Dear Los Gatos Union School District Parents, Teachers, Staff and Community Members:

RE: Audiotapes of LGUSD Board Meetings

Since March 6, 2012, the Los Gatos Union School District ('LGUSD') Technology department has been piloting a way to podcast audiotapes of the LGUSD Board meetings. While we still have some kinks to work out, I happy to announce that a podcast server has been set up for public access. Audiotapes will be available on the District website by Friday, May 18, 2012 if not sooner. To clarify, new technology equipment was purchased in March 2012 for this pilot, and the District does not possess any archived Board meeting audiotapes prior to the March 6, 2012 Board meeting. For easy access, please click the link below:

    http://www.lgusd.k12.ca.us/board/meetings.php

It is our intent to have worked out all the glitches beginning with the 2012-13 school year.

As always, the LGUSD Board of Trustees and administrators remain committed to finding solutions

I received the following Press Release from Los Gatos Ballet:

    Saratoga, CA
: Los Gatos Ballet brings the all-time favorite, lost-slipper, love story to life with their creation of Cinderella at the West Valley Community College Theater on May 25-26, 2012. Performances are at 10:30 am and 7:30 pm on Friday, and at 2 pm and 7:30 pm on Saturday.

This performance follows the story from long ago about a servant girl who becomes a princess. Los Gatos Ballet takes that story, pumpkin in all, and delights audiences with the beauty and majesty of classical ballet, wrapped in the notion of “happily ever after” and generously sprinkled with a dose of humor.

“We had so much fun creating the choreography for this ballet that it almost wrote itself,” Marcie Ryken, founder of Los Gatos Ballet and Artistic Director, said. “We have a nice blend of professional and student dancers from LGB that carry it off so well. It is such a pleasure to present this!” ...

Wow. Today has been one of those days where emails are flooding my inbox and I can't keep up.

However, this particular subject really irked me. I question if it is even legally correct? I don't know the answer; however, I know a ton of lawyers read this site -- maybe one of them can respond.

A concerned parent spotted the following FAC Meeting Agenda on the door of Fisher Middle School today. Say what? Unless there was a secret motion made, seconded on, and approved, the FAC does not yet technically exist (yet). You see, the BAC (Budget Advisory Committee) is in the process of being changed to the FAC (Financial Advisory Committee). This change in name and charter was first proposed on February 7th, and a second draft was presented to the board on May 8th. The vote to formally recognize the FAC is scheduled for 8pm tomorrow (Tuesday) night. I guess the Board and Administration are fairly confident in which way the vote will go if they are posting flyers before the resolution is adopted without mentioning that the FAC Agenda is contingent on tomorrow's vote. Hummmmm….

According to the LG/MS Police, "21 year old Albert Cruzet of Milpitas was taken into custody without incident, and was subsequently booked into Santa Clara County Jail on charges of attempted murder."

I will eat crow on the previous article that I wrote. Although I heard from a few different residents who have shared reliable information with me before that 5 people were injured, apparently, only 3 people were injured. I did, however, visit the scene of the crime today while shopping downtown. There are still bloodstains on the sidewalk. Please remember that when I post unverified information on InsideLG, I'm always honest about it.

LGActs has asked me to post the following information:

On February 28th the LGUSD Board of Trustees hastily voted to cut $1.2M from the school district’s budget. 60% of the cuts directly impacted our kids. Numerous community members have presented alternative solutions but to date none have been explored. Our students deserve to be placed first in all financial decisions of the district. It is vital that immediate changes be made in the current budget cycle to move cost reductions as far AWAY from students as possible. Based on the Board’s current governance calendar this is the only time the budget is agendized until it is adopted at the June 19th Board Meeting. It is important that every Los Gatos community member attend Tuesday night’s board meeting and advocate for our kids.

    Update: 5/14/12 7:00am

There are a few times that I'll post information on this site without being able to back it up. I want to be completely honest; this is one of those instances.

Another reliable source came forward and informed me that four of the stabbing victims, two men and two women, were apparently suspects in the first stabbing. They were taken into the police department for questioning after being released from the hospital. Also, police/detectives asked for a search warrant to search a Town Terrace residence.

I have no idea how this convoluted story played out but I trust the person who gave me the information because he/she has never led me astray. Rumors are flying around town but, like I said, I only cite those I trust - even when he/she doesn't want the credit.

If you know any further information, please feel free to post it in the comments.

    Update: 5/13/12 9:38pm

Another loyal reader responded with additional information. There was an alteration in downtown LG that resulted in five people receiving stab wounds. Police, Detectives, Disaster Aid Response Team, and Sheriffs were ...

My friend, fellow bike rider, and workout buddy, Amy, invited me to attend the Blossom Hill Road - Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Project Groundbreaking Ceremony the other day. As a Blossom Hill School parent, I’m excited that we’re getting a new parking lot along the strip of Blossom Hill Road.

Kevin Rohani, the Town Engineer and Assistant Director, was in attendance with students from Blossom Hill, Fisher, and Los Gatos High to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony.

After Rohani gave a speech, a few brave students also said a few words. Then, it was all about the ribbon cutting, planting flowers, fence building, and spreading out the wood chips.

Blossom Hill School was well represented by Lisa Reynolds (BH Principal), Shane Doty (3rd grade), Carys Grespan (1st grade), Bryn Grespan (2nd grade), Kendrick Grespan (3rd grade), Devon Ottinger (5th grade), Wendy Doty (Safe Routes to School), and Amy Grespan (Safe Routes to School).

Fisher Middle School also brought in the troops. They included Jim Latorre (Assistant Principal), Olivia Briones ...

I've received a few emails asking why I never cover this case and I want to be honest: I went to high school and am friends with someone who is involved. I'm not the right person to report on this situation.

As much as I didn't want to revisit the Winchester/Albright debacle, here it is again in front of me. A reader stated that I had incorrectly reported how Vice-Mayor Spector voted. Because I’m always up for an educated argument, I had to find out if I was correct or if I’d have to eat crow. Luckily, I don’t have to eat crow because I don’t know if crow is an appetizer or a main dish and I really need a drink after this article!

Why am I dedicating yet another article to this embarrassing time in Los Gatos political history? Well, there’s a pesky election coming up and voters need to know the truth. The actions of the Town Council have been harrying to many residents.

The reader who challenged my recollection of the shambolic Town Council meetings said this in the comments:

“While I agree with you about Spector - she's a good candidate and Councilperson, you are incorrect in that all 5 on the council voted for the environmental document that was thrown out by the court. She voted against the project itself, but approved the "no need" for a full EIR. Check the records! “

Now, I have to admit, when I woke up at 5am and checked the site, I was a bit concerned that I may have been incorrect in my statements. I went back over all of my old articles and was still baffled. Fortunately, one of my informed readers sent me public notes from the meetings and my question was answered. Can I just say, I love it when readers reach out to me because it ...
